Crowns

A crown restores the original size and shape of your tooth by encasing it in a synthetic covering.  Generally this is done to strengthen the tooth structure when it cannot be restored with a filling or any other type of restoration.

A crown is desirable when the tooth:

  • is broken or fractured
  • needs cosmetic enhancement
  • is decayed
  • contains a fractured filling
  • has a large filling
  • has had a root canal

There are several different types of crowns, but the most popular is porcelain because it  closely resembles your natural teeth.  We strive to make your crown match your smile by customizing it’s shape, size and color to match your existing teeth.

Crowns are durable and very strong, thus they are expected to last for years.  But, like all dental restorations, they may eventually deteriorate and need to be replaced.
